Fontenelle (crater)

Fontenelle is an impact crater on the moon in the north of the Moon front on the northern edge of Mare Frigoris, south of Anaxagoras and southeast of Philolaus.

The rim has eroded somewhat and the crater floor has cracks and groove structures, features a floor - fractured crater, which are associated with volcanic activity below the crater floor in conjunction.

The crater was named in 1935 by the IAU by the French Enlightenment and Bernard le Bovier de astronomers Fontenelle.
