Record defeat

The FFAS suffered the worst defeat in the history of international football, as the American Samoan national team lost during the qualifying round for the FIFA World Cup 2002 against the Australian national football team on April 11, 2001 12:31. In this qualifying round American Samoa lost all four games ( against Fiji 0:13, 0:8 against Samoa, against Australia 0:31 and 0:5 against Tonga ) and shot at 57 goals conceded even a single goal.

In qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in 2006 the national team fared little better, as Natia Natia the first and only official goal for American Samoa scored in the 1:9 defeat to Vanuatu at a FIFA World Cup qualifier. Overall, however, the team lost again all four qualifying games, with a goal difference of 1:34.

In qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa American Samoa again lost all four games. After losing to the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa and Tonga would retire with a goal difference of 1:38. The only goal that could be hailed, was the 1:5 goal back from Ramin Ott in the match against the Solomon Islands (final 1:12 ).
