Forestiera pubescens

The Adelien ( Forestiera ) are a genus of about 15 shrub species from the family Oleaceae, which is distributed throughout North, Central and South America.

Description

The Adelien form deciduous, sparrig branched and Ligustern similar shrubs. The buds are ovate, glabrous and are 1.5 to 2 inches long. The leaves are simple and are on opposite sides. The leaf margin is entire or finely cut. The shrubs are dioecious or polygamous. The flowers are greenish and inconspicuous. They are in axillary clusters or grapes and usually appear before the leaves. The perianth is simple and consists of four to six sepals. There shall be two to three stamens, the ovary is zweifächrig. As fruits 3-7 millimeters long, dark purple to black formed stone fruits, which have a thin, trockenhäutiges mesocarp.

Dissemination

One can find representatives of the genus in North America, the West Indies and to Brazil.

The Adelien ( Forestiera ) are a genus of the family Oleaceae ( Oleaceae ). There they are assigned to the tribe Oleeae. Synonyms of the genus are Adelia, Bigelovia, Borya, Carpoxis, Geisarina and Nudilus. The scientific name of the genus honors the French botanist Charles Le Forestier from the beginning of the 19th century.

Use

The bushes have a small garden value and are rarely planted.
