Fort Langley
Fort Langley is a district ( Neighbourhood ) with around 2,700 inhabitants in the district of Langley, British Columbia, Canada. The place is located on the Fraser River, about 40 km east of Vancouver
History
The settlement is the result of the 1839 scale historic trading post Fort Langley National Historic Site of Hudson 's Bay Company. It was named after Thomas Langley trading post, the former director of the Hudson Bay Company ( 1800-30 ).
The fort was 1858, the Crown Colony of British Columbia was proclaimed, which is why Fort Langley referred to as the birthplace of today's province.
Economy
The town's economy was based on long forestry, the large sawmill closed Interfor However, 1990. Nowadays the place of tourism, culture and agriculture alive. Many residents commute to Vancouver, Langley and other centers in the Metro Vancouver region. Fort Langley can be reached via the Trans - Canada Highway and the railway line Vancouver -Edmonton of the Canadian National Railway.
