Fort Polk

Fort Polk is a military base the U.S. Army. The base is located in the state of Louisiana near the town of Leesville. The base was built in 1941 and named in the Civil War by Leonidas Polk, a bishop of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America and later General of the Confederate Army. In 2008, approximately 11,000 soldiers are stationed at Fort Polk.

In Fort Polk is the branches of the armed force overarching exercise and training center Joint Readiness Training Center ( JRTC ).
