Fort Tompkins Quadrangle, also known as Fort Tompkins, is a fort on Staten Iceland, and it was built in 1860. The site has already been secured for the first time in 1663 with a log home. During the Revolutionary War it was a redoubt of Flagstaff Fort ( 1776), the occupied by the British, enlarged and was used until 1783. The New York State built from 1807 to 1812 a stone-wall fortress. At the beginning of the 1840s hit Cpt. Robert E. Lee, who was stationed at Fort Hamilton, a reconstruction of the fort before on Staten Iceland. This was done in 1860. It controlled the fort Morton, Hudson and Richmond (Water Battery, Battery Weed later ). The fort was the last of four forts in the United States that bear the name of Fort Tompkins.

In 1974 the fort was entered in the National Register of Historic Places.
