Forum Freies Theater

The Forum Freies Theater Dusseldorf (FFT ) is a production and venue for professional independent theater in the North Rhine - Westphalian capital Dusseldorf.

Organization and program

Without solid ensemble cast, the FFT stands for a program at the intersection of theater, performance, dance, visual arts and music. It was founded in 1999 and consists of two venues: the FFT Juta (120 seats ) in the old town and the FFT intimate theater (200 seats ) on the Jahn road. Overall, the FFT performs more than 300 events per year, which are attended by more than 22,000 spectators. Artistic Director and Managing Director since 2004 Kathrin Tiedemann.

The FFT is linked to an international network of independent production, working with theaters in the region closely. The promotion of young artists from Dusseldorf, the presentation and production of works nationally and internationally relevant artists and groups as well as developing theater projects concerning children and young people are essential for the FFT. Is sponsored the Forum Freies Theater by the City of Dusseldorf and the state of NRW, as well as support by the Arts Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia, the NPN, the Foundation van Meeteren, the German Federal Cultural Foundation, the individual project.

String

With "Game ON Stage" go the Berlin-based artist group machina eX and the FFT Dusseldorf on a two-year research trip to the intersection of theater and gaming. In a development and production laboratory they make in five levels to search for interactive play dramaturgy and opportunities for participation.

Based on three productions examines the series "Public Bodies. Dramaturgy of exposure, " how can the importance of the ( bare ) determine public body on stage to date.

The international co-production series " Audiotopias " examines the utopian character of music in the tension of today's production and reception conditions.

Festivals

The theater festival "varieties " presented annually to children and youth theater productions from NRW.

Since 2010 there is an exchange of productions between Bonn, Dusseldorf and Cologne as a joint project of theaterimballsaal Bonn, Dusseldorf and FFT studiobühneköln.

"Free float " is a platform for artistic theater junior in German-speaking and offers offers young theater artists from the independent scene the opportunity to establish new positions under the same organizational conditions and a common theme to develop and imagine.

The international theater festival Impulse Theater Biennale in North Rhine-Westphalia presents works that have emerged in the German-speaking countries outside the established stages. Since 2013, the Festival of Florian Malzacher is headed.

Together with the Theatre Museum Dusseldorf organized by the FFT every two years, the festival "Made in Dusseldorf " as a platform to show their performances, try- outs, concerts and installations in amateurs. Every hour the program changes between each FFT Juta and theater Museum.

Projects with young people

In collaboration with the dancer and choreographer Gudrun Lange and director Ingo romp projects with young performers are being developed in which participants are introduced to contemporary art. In the development of projects active participation and authorship of the young people at the center.

Concerts

In the foyer of the FFT Games chamber concerts are held, covering different genres of music. The concert series offers young groups and youth formations opportunities for public appearances.
