Four Square

Foursquare (from the English, " four square " ) is a ball game, the play four players on a square box with an exercise ball. It is in the U.S. a popular schoolyard game since hardly any material is required, any number of players can participate in the game, the rounds are short, so the game can be ended at any time, and the rules are easy to understand.

Material

  • A square field ( 4-7 m), which is divided into four equal squares. The individual squares are numbered from 1 to 4.
  • An exercise ball ( 18 to 20 cm in diameter) or similar lightweight rubber balls.

Target

Each player tries to reach the first square and stay there.

Regulate

List

Each square represents a player. The remaining players standing in line next to the fourth square. Players squared bounce the ball once a square player makes a mistake, departs from this and turns back to the queue. Thus, the others climb in rank.

Gameplay

Once bouncing, once hitting. If the ball falls into the field of a player, it must hit the ball into another field. No other player may touch the ball. If an error occurs, the affected player is eliminated.

Error

  • The ball lands outside all game fields or on the line between the fields. If the ball lands on an outside line, it is still valid.
  • The ball bounces more than once in one's own field.
  • The ball is repeatedly touched before it reaches the field of an opponent.
  • The player is in breach of a special rule ( see variants ).

Specification

The player on the first field plays the ball in the fourth field. When specifying the ball is hit from below. The player in the fourth field bounces to the second or third field. After all players may bounce on any fields.

Shock

The ball is struck with the hand (possibly forehand and backhand fist or open hand, one or both hands ). Undertaking, performing or carrying the ball and touching other body parts is not permitted.
