Fractal antenna

Are fractal antennas, which is achieved by using a fractal structure of a broadband transmission and reception quality. The structures used are mostly Koch curves or Sierpinski triangles.

This type of antenna is very common in mobile phones application, since work through technical progress many different wireless technologies ( Bluetooth & Wi-Fi, GSM, GPS, etc. ) side by side. Since each of these technologies works in their own frequency range, one would need as many different antennas, which is not possible but due to the limited space available in a mobile device. By using a fractal antenna can work around this problem, because thanks to the self-similarity of a fractal for each wavelength, an area with good efficiency is available.

A further advantage of this type of antenna is the possibility of miniaturization of the antenna, the fractal structure brings an extremely large edge length at a very small area, so that even relatively long waves can be radiated or received with a small antenna.
