Fran Ulmer

Frances Ann Ulmer ( born 1947 in Madison, Wisconsin) is an American politician of the Democratic Party

Ulmer studied at the University of Wisconsin Economics and Political Science. After receiving her BA degree, she attended the Law School of the University and eventually earned his doctorate JD. 1973 she moved to Alaska.

Ulmer was from 1983 to 1985 mayor of Alaska's capital Juneau and belonged from 1986 to 1994 the House of Representatives from Alaska. In 1994 she was the first female Lieutenant Governor of Alaska. This office had Ulm until 2002. In the same year, she ran for the governorship, but could not prevail against her Republican opponent Frank Murkowski himself. Since 2007, Ulmer Chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage.

Ulmer is married and has two children, a son and a daughter.
