France Joli

France Joli ( born 1963 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a Canadian disco singer. It is especially known for the disco classic Come to Me (1979).

Career

France Joli was still a teenager when she in 1979 with their first single, Come to Me being landed a super hit, which climbed into the U.S. at # 15 and also took the leading position of the U.S. Disco charts for three weeks. At this time she had already gained extensive experience singing on radio, television and at local junior competitions. For a professional music career, she had also left school prematurely. The English language learned Joli age of 14. The time of his successful producer Tony Green took the singer finally under his wing, which specializes in disco label Prelude gave her a contract. Similarly, the following debut album was released in the United States well, placed himself at number 26 on the charts. In their Canadian homeland Joli was awarded in 1980 for her debut as a promising new singer with the Juno Award. By 1985, regularly appeared more plates of Joli, which, however, could not seen commercially repeated the success of her debut. Even their second LP Tonight reached in 1980 only room 175 in the U.S. charts. Nevertheless, she was one of the most successful artists of the label Prelude. Its chief Marvin Schlachter said in an interview that Joli was a "very interesting artist with a magnetic attraction force ," except that it is simultaneously dependent on the right producers and creators in the background.

In the disco hit lists Joli remained present. These include on- top- 10 hits Feel Like Dancing, The Heart to Break the Heart ( 1980) and Gonna Get Over You (1981 ) as to their successes as a smaller scale Your Good Lovin ' (1982 ), Girl in the 80's ( 1983), Blue Eyed Technology (1984) and Does He Dance ( 1985). They also won in October 1984 with the pop song Party Lights first prize at the World Popular Song Festival.

In the meantime Joli had changed the record label. For Epic, they recorded two albums: Attitude ( 1983) was produced by Pete Bellotte and Giorgio Moroder; Witch of Love ( 1985) by George Duke. Despite these well-known name both LPs were not very successful. 1986 was followed by two songs Angels in the Night and Do not Think Twice for the soundtrack of the film Modern Girls. Then it was getting quiet around the singer. It was not until the end of 1996 Joli reported a few years back without a record deal. The Billboard magazine devoted her a detailed article in which it is in all her love for her disco hits also complained about the drawer into which they had fallen over the years. However, the comeback single touch oriented on then-popular Euro Dance and placed in early 1997 at number 24 on the Billboard dance charts. Followed in 1998 with If You Love Me their first album in 13 years. But they had collaborated again with their discoverer Tony Green. In the same year Jolis classic Come to Me was also selected for the soundtrack of the movie disco Studio 54. The song was played during the credits. Joli tied in the following years no longer on their comeback recordings, but still occurs regularly with their old hits on.
