Francesca Segat (2006)

Francesca Segat ( born January 21, 1983 in Vittorio Veneto) is an Italian swimmer.

Career

Their first major success was a fifth place over 200 meters butterfly at the European Swimming Championships in Berlin in 2002. In the same year she was also fifth on 200 meters and sixth in the 100 meters butterfly at the European Short Course Championships 2002 in Riesa.

With the World Swimming Championships 2003 in Barcelona she won, ultimately, the fifth overall place. Only half a year later, at the 2003 European Championships Short Course in Dublin she won her first medal in international competitions with the second place 200 meter butterfly.

Segat belonged to the Italian Olympic Team at the Olympic Summer Games 2004 in Athens. She was 12, about 200 meters and 22 in the 100 meters butterfly.

In the subsequent Short Course European Championships 2004 in Vienna and 2005 in Trieste, she was over the 200 meters butterfly route each fifth. In Helsinki in 2006, she took over this distance the seventh and sixth overall place in 2008 in Rijeka.

2006 was another very successful year for Segat because she could win at the Short Course World Championships in Shanghai in 2006 and at the European Swimming Championships 2006 in Budapest each silver medal in the 200 meter butterfly.

In Rijeka at the Short Course European Championships in 2008 she appeared for the first time at international championships over the situation and distances achieved great success. About 200 meters individual medley they secured their first gold medal in the new European record time of 02:07,03 min. About 100 meters and 400 meters individual medley they could each win the bronze medal.

A year later at the European Short Course Championships in 2009 she won 200m individual medley silver medal.
