Francesco Ferrara

Francesco Ferrara ( born December 7, 1810 in Palermo, † 22 January, 1900 in Venice ) was an Italian economist.

Life

Ferrara in 1834 Chief of the Statistical Bureau of Sicily and founded the " Giornale di Statistica ". Since he had participated in 1847 in the movement for the independence of Sicily, he was locked into the citadel to Palermo, but freed the following year it became the member of the provisional government. Sent to Turin to offer the Duke of Genoa, the crown of Sicily, he remained here after the end of the revolution and took over at the suggestion of Cavour Professor of Economics at the University of Turin, and later at the University of Pisa. As finance minister in 1867 appointed to the Cabinet Rattazzi, but resigned after a few months of taking office, he took a long time as a member of the Finance Committee of the Chamber, currently the Senate, an active part in the design of the Italian finances. From 1868, he was director of the Upper trade school in Venice.
