Franciacorta

Franciacorta is a young Italian wine region of Lombardy with DOC status since 1967.

The area covers 23 communities south of Lake Iseo in the province of Brescia. The area under vines is about 2,000 ha DOC is true for red, white, and sparkling wines.

Despite its good location on mineral soils of alpine foothills and the mild climate in the vicinity of Lake Iseo, Franciacorta wine had reached only local significance. Approved communities for the production of Franciacorta are Paratico, Capriolo, Adro, Erbusco, Corte Franca, Iseo, Ome, Monticelli Brusati, Rodengo Saiano Paderno Franciacorta, Passirano, Provaglio d' Iseo, Cellatica, Gussago and parts of the municipalities Cologne, Coccaglio, Rovato and Cazzago San Martino.
