Francis Arinze

Francis Cardinal Arinze ( born 1 November 1932 in Eziowelle, Nigeria ) was Archbishop of Onitsha and is an emeritus Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Francis Arinze became his secondary education at a religious seminary and studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Nigeria and Rome, where he the sacrament of ordination by Cardinal Grégoire -Pierre Agagianian, Patriarch of Cilicia received in 1958. After his return to Nigeria, he taught liturgy and philosophy at the seminary in Enugu. Further studies led him to London, where he obtained a diploma in education.

From 2002 to 2008 headed Cardinal Arinze as Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. On 25 April 2005 he was beatified by Benedict XVI. appointed Cardinal Bishop of Velletri - Segni and thus its successor as title holder of this suburbicarian diocese.
