Francis Lawrence
Francis Lawrence ( * March 26, 1970 or 1971 in Vienna) is an American director of music videos and feature films.
Life
Lawrence was born in the Austrian capital of Vienna; his family moved to Los Angeles when he was three years old. Lawrence worked as a second camera assistant during the filming of Pump Up the Volume ( Pump Up the Volume ) before directing theater and made his degree in television film at Loyola Marymount University. In 1993, he worked as an analog -to-digital converter for the film Marching Out of Time by Anton Vassil and then together with his former classmate Mike Rosen at the direction of music videos. Lawrence's first self-directed music video with the band Tidal Force for Michael Blakey, president of the record company Acto Records, was a great success and established his reputation as imaginative screenwriter and director.
Lawrence joined a new film production company, where he began his career as a successful director. He directed the music videos of famous artists, such as Britney Spears, Black Eyed Peas, Avril Lavigne, Aerosmith, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Pink and Shakira. He is also a director for numerous commercials responsible, for example, Coca -Cola, L' Oréal, Calvin Klein, Pepsi, Maybelline, Bacardi and McDonald's.
In 2005 he directed the filming of his first feature film Constantine starring Keanu Reeves in the lead role. 2007, he has directed for the film I Am Legend starring Will Smith, is based on the eponymous novel by Richard Matheson.
2011 Lawrence Award for the music video Bad Romance by Lady Gaga Grammy Award for best music video. This was followed in the same year his film Water for Elephants ( Water for Elephants ), which grossed nearly 17 million dollars already on the opening weekend. 19 April 2012 Lionsgate announced that the Lawrence directed the sequel to The Hunger Games - Catching Fire ( The Hunger Games 2: Catching Fire ) - The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games will take over.
