Francisco Díaz de León

Francisco Díaz de León ( * September 24, 1897 in Aguascalientes, † December 29, 1975 in Mexico City) was a Mexican graphic artist and in 1968 one of the founding members of the Academia de Artes.

Life

Díaz de León studied from 1917 at the Academia de San Carlos, and attended the open-air painting school of Santa Anita in Chimalistac. With his work and techniques, it is one of the pioneers of modern graphic art in Mexico. He used the method of drypoint, etching, wood and aquatint techniques. He was also a successful university lecturer. He lay with his concept work for the Secretaría de Educación Pública ( SEP), the foundation for the establishment of the Escuela de Artes del graphics Libro.
