Francisco Guerrero Marín

Francisco Guerrero Marín (born 7 July 1951, Linares, Andalusia, † October 19, 1997 in Madrid) was a Spanish composer.

Life

A major compositional concern was for Francisco Guerrero in search of musical equivalents to natural phenomena. Thus, he became deeply physical and mathematical principles apart, the appropriation of fractal geometry B. Mandelbrot represented the main focus of this work.

These studies led, among other things, a series of large-scale and highly complex orchestral pieces ( Antar Atman (1980 ), Ariadna (1984 ), Sahara (1991 ), Oleada (1993) and Coma Berenices (1997) ) and the cycle Zayin for one to four string instruments, which originated from 1981 to unexpected death of the composer in 1997 as a commissioned work for the Arditti Quartet.

Another project of the composer was the orchestration of the piano cycle Iberia by Isaac Albeniz, this task remained unfinished, Guerrero managed six orchestrations until his death.
