Francisco Pavón

Francisco Pavón Barahona (born 9 January 1980 Madrid ) is a Spanish football player at the position of central defender.

Career

Earlier in his career he always wanted to be striker since Marco van Basten was his former idol. When he was back, however, he took Hierro, the living legend of the people of Madrid, as a model. Pavon went through since 1990 all the youth teams of Real Madrid, so it has always been a dream of his to play for the pros.

Due to injuries to some key players of the first team, he made his debut for the pros on 6 October 2001 under then- coach Vicente del Bosque ( 2-0 win against Athletic Bilbao). He took the opportunity and was a few months later incorporated as an integral part in the first team.

After a total of six years and 106 league games for Real Madrid, Pavón moved in summer 2007 free transfer to Real Zaragoza. In his first season he was rarely used and increased with the club at the end of the season in the Segunda División. After the immediate resurgence he played with Zaragoza a year in the Primera División, before moving to AC Arles -Avignon in the French Ligue 1.
