Biography

In 1944 he was promoted to President Élie Lescot to colonel ( Colonel) and appointed Chief of Staff of the Guard and thereby commander in chief of the army of Haiti ( Forces Armées d' Haïti).

As such, he was considered the highest-ranking officer after the fall of President Lescot on 11 January 1946, Chairman of the Military Executive Council, making a president of Haiti. Beside him, the Executive still belonged to the two Supreme Antoine Levelt and Paul Eugène Magloire. This office he held until August 16, 1946 and thereafter handed over power to Dumarsais Estimé.

After the fall of Estimé on May 10, 1950, he took over as commander in chief of the armed forces again to chair the Government Junta and was in turn, President of Haiti. After the presidential elections of October 1950, he handed over this office then formally on 6 December 1950, the election winner Paul Eugène Magloire. Fourteen days later, he retired from military service on 20 December 1950.

In May 1951 he was sent as a diplomat for a short time to France, where he later settled and died in 1986.
