François Bonvin

François Bonvin [ fʀɑswa bɔvɛ ] (* November 22, 1817, † December 19, 1887 ) was a French painter.

Life

Bonvin was known primarily for his genre painting and still life. He taught in Paris; his students included, among others Henri Edmond Cross.

In Friedrich Müller's The artists of all times and peoples from 1857 he is described as " a genre painter, at whose images: handing out a school of orphan girls, girls school, Sisters of Charity to the poor soup, you and the extraordinary truth, faithful observance and simple conception, the beautiful light effect undemanding treatment of large width and softness boasts " described.
