François Bourque

François Bourque ( born November 18, 1984 in New Richmond, Quebec ) is a former Canadian alpine skier. He specializes in the disciplines of Downhill, Super-G and giant slalom.

Biography

His first major successes celebrated Bourque at Junior World Championships. In 2003 he won the gold medal in Serre Chevalier in the Super -G. A year later, at the Junior World Championship 2004 in Maribor, he was even more successful: In the combination, he won the gold medal in the downhill and super-G one bronze medal. Also in 2004 he won his first of three Canadian championships.

His first World Cup race denied Bourque in November 2002, a few days after his 18th birthday. On 20 February 2005, he was in the Super G in Garmisch -Partenkirchen third parties and rode it for the first time on the podium. His best World Cup results were each second-place finishes in the giant slalom on December 21, 2006 in Hinterstoder and on March 3, 2007 in Kranjska Gora. At the World Championships and Olympic Games Bourque drove four times into the top ten. The best result he achieved fourth place in the giant slalom of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
