François Giguère

François Giguère (* June 24, 1963 in Sainte -Foy, Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey official. Most recently, he served as general manager of the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League.

Career

After Giguère was engaged for the Quebec Nordiques of the National Hockey League in the financial sector since 1990, the Canadians in 1995 was promoted to assistant general manager of the Nordiques. He held this position even at as the franchise relocated to Denver, be renamed the Colorado Avalanche and in the 1995/96 season for the first time won the Stanley Cup. During the 2000/ 01 NHL season Giguère was appointed Vice - President of the organization, this season he also won for the second time with his team the Stanley Cup.

At the beginning of the 2002/ 03 Giguère left the club and worked as assistant GM of the Dallas Stars before he was again obliged by the Avalanche at the end of season 2005/ 06. On 24 May 2006 he was appointed as the new Vice - President and General Manager.

After three unsuccessful seasons in Colorado François Giguère was released again on April 13, 2009 a few days after the last regular season game of the season 2008 /09. The Colorado Avalanche graduated this year, their worst season since moving from Quebec City. The club finished last in the Western Conference and finished the league in the league consisting of 30 teams ranked only 28th successor of Giguère was Greg Sherman, who had been the franchise for seven years assistant GM.
