François Martin (composer)

François Martin ( * 1727, † 1757 in Paris) was a French composer and cellist.

François Martin received his musical education in the context of the court orchestra of Louis VII Duke of Gramont. From the 1740s he was principal cellist at the Paris Opera.

Works

The majority of his compositions are instrumental works in the style of the early classical period, there are also some small cantatas and motets from his pen known.

  • Six Symphonies et Ouverture's op 4 (Paris, 1751 ) The three three-movement symphonies are Italian-style carrying three overtures French trains.
