François Marty

Gabriel Auguste François Cardinal Marty (François Cardinal Marty ) ( born May 16, 1904 in Vaureilles, France, † February 16, 1994 in Villefranche -de- Rouerque, France) was Bishop of Saint -Flour, later Archbishop of Reims and Paris.

Life

François Marty received by theological and philosophical studies in Rodez and Toulouse on 28 June 1930, the sacrament of Holy Orders. He then worked until 1951 in various communities of the Diocese of Rodez as pastors. In 1951 he was Vicar General of Rodez.

Pope Pius XII. Marty appointed in 1952 as Bishop of Saint -Flour. He received his episcopal consecration on May 1, 1952 Marcel -Marie -Henri -Paul Dubois.

1959 he was appointed by Pope John XXIII. Titular Archbishop of Hemesa and Koadjutorerzbischof of the Archdiocese of Reims, whose leadership François Marty took over in 1960. In the years 1962 to 1965, he took part in the Second Vatican Council. In 1966 he became President of the Permanent Commission of the French Bishops' Conference. 1968 Pope Paul VI appointed him. Archbishop of Paris, a year later he took him as a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Luigi dei Francesi to the College of Cardinals. Cardinal François Marty died on 16 February 1994 in a car accident in Villefranche -de- Rouerque and was buried in Pachins.
