François Rabelais University

The University François Rabelais Tours (French: Université François Rabelais de Tours, or just Université de Tours ) is a state university in the French city of Tours, with 22 671 students (as of 2005) and nearly 2,000 academic staff. There is also a university town in Blois.

The University of Tours was founded on 27 March 1969 and is named after the French writer François Rabelais. Rector or president of the university since May 19, 2008 Prof. Dr. Loïc Vaillant.
