Frank Daly

Francis Joseph Daly (* 1886 in Cork, † February 18, 1950 ) was an Irish politician.

1930 Daly, who belonged to the Cork City Council at this time, was proposed by Mayor Seán French as his successor, and finally selected. 1931 under his re-election. Thus Daly held from 1930 to 1932 the office of Lord Mayor of Cork. After that he continued a member of the city council. As 1937 Seán French, who had again become mayor after Daly, did not run for the office, Daly was next to his namesake Francis J. Daly and James Hickey one of the three candidates. Although Hickey retired quickly, members of the City Council could not decide between the two Dalys and so the choice was finally canceled. As a result of this, French decided still for a second term to be available.

Francis Daly sat from 1943 to 1948 for the Fianna Fáil for two terms in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish Parliament. In the elections of 1948 he no longer went to and gave up for reelection.
