Frank Kugler

Frank Xaver Kugler (or: Kungler [ * 1] ) (* March 29, 1879; † July 7, 1952 in St. Louis, Missouri) was a living in the U.S. German athlete who St at the Summer Olympics in 1904 in his adopted hometown. Louis won one silver and three bronze medals. In 1913 he became a U.S. citizen.

Career

In the Summer Olympics 1904, he won a silver medal in wrestling ( Freestyle, heavyweight), two bronze medals in weightlifting ( in the two-arm -around and in -armed -around ) as well as a bronze medal in the tug of war with the second team his club [* 4] and thus he won Olympic medals in three different sports. Contrary to the different information showing that Kugler 1904 was American, he is led according to official figures as German Olympian. and the bronze medal team in the tug of war because of its involvement officially as Mixed Team (USA / Germany ) respectively. [ * 5] It was not until 1913 Kugler was according to these data U.S. citizens. Kugler medals ( three for Germany, one for mixed team ) can be incorrectly attributed to the U.S. Olympic team in most coin flipping.
