František Kaberle, Sr.

František Kaberle senior ( born August 6, 1951 in Kladno, Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player who played several years with Poldi Kladno and in the national team of Czechoslovakia in defense. He is the father of Tomáš and František junior, both of which play in the National Hockey League.

Career

In the 1970s, František Kaberle played for Poldi Kladno and was Czechoslovakian with this team in 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1980 champion. He usually played it on the side of Frantisek Pospisil, with whom he also played for the national team.

For the Czechoslovak national team, he played the Canada Cup in 1976, five World Championships ( 1975-1979 ) as well as the Olympic Hockey Tournament 1980. Both 1976 and 1977 he became world champion.
