Franz Reindl

Franz Reindl (* November 24, 1954 in Garmisch -Partenkirchen ) is a former German professional ice hockey player and current sports director of the German Ice Hockey Federation. Trained in wholesale and retail merchant is married and has three children.

Career

As a player

Reindl was 1963 SC Riessersee, went through there all student and youth teams and played in the 1971/72 season for the first time in the first team. In the following time he was 13 seasons for the SCR active and belonged at that time to the service providers of the team. In the season 1981/82 he was with the then Landshut Mike Nash scored 102 points scorer of the dot- best player in the Bundesliga. The 181- times capped player won at the Olympic Games in 1976 with the German national team the bronze medal. He was also with Riessersee 1978 and 1981 German champions and once more in 1985 with the SB Rosenheim, to which he had moved in the summer of 1984. After the final of the 1987/88 season he ended his hockey career at the age of 33 years.

In total, he played 669 times in the hockey league, scoring 423 goals in that time. In the national team he came to 183 missions and 38 hits until his resignation in 1988. As a player, Franz Reindl participated in nine World Championships, three Olympic Games and a Canada Cup.

As a coach and official

From the season 1988/89 up to and including 1990/91 Reindl worked as a manager and coach of SC Riessersee to lead the club together with RA Heinz flour out of the bankruptcy. In this case, the descent into the third division was athletic avoided.

In 1991 he became assistant to the technical director, Fritz Brechenmacher, as well as assistant coach of the national team with Dr. Luděk Bukač. A year later, he took over the position of sporting director at the DEB, succeeding Helmut Bauer and remained until 1994, in addition also assistant coach of the national team and Marketingverantworlicher the DEB. 1995 to 2003, he also assumed the duties as managing director and head of the office of the DEB. Following the resignation of Hans Zach as national coach Reindl took over this position from May to September in 2004 and led the national team during the World Cup of Hockey. In December 2006 he again took over the management of the DEB ice hockey mbH and acts again as a Secretary-General for the implementation of the 2010 IIHF World Championship in Germany, where he was responsible for the successful application also from 2005.

Franz Reindl is also represented in the Committee of the International Ice Hockey Federation IIHF and highly recognized internationally. In addition, he was from 1998 to 2008 member of the IIHF Sport Committee in Zurich and from 2008 a member of the IIHF Competition Committee, as well as in Zurich. Also with regard to the application of Munich for the 2018 Winter Olympics Reindl is committed and a member of the Munich 2018 in commission sporting venues and Olympic heritage.
