Franz Weselik

Franz Weselik (* April 20, 1903, † March 15, 1962 ) was an Austrian football player and coach.

Career

Weselik began his career in 1919 at Blue Star Vienna and came at the age of 20 years for SK Rapid Wien. In 1927, he celebrated his first major success with the Green-Whites with winning the Vienna Cup. 1929 and 1930 he won the Austrian championship titles with Rapid and celebrated by winning the Mitropacups his only international title. The year 1930 was the most successful ever for the striker 's shot but in 20 league games 24 goals, becoming only the third as Rapidler Austrian scorer.

On May 6, 1928 Franz Weselik gave a sensational debut in the Austrian national team. In the away match against Hungary in Budapest, he contributed three hits to 5:5 draw and took his order for additional nominations. Weselik belonged from 1931 to 1933 also to the extended squad of wonder team and came in this era in the games against Belgium ( 6-1, 1 goal) and France (4-0, 1 goal) are used. His last game for the Austrian selection, he played on 30 April 1933, the away game against Hungary ( 1:1; did not score ). Overall, Franz Weselik from 1928 to 1933 convened eleven times in the Austrian national team, scoring 13 goals.

In 1934 Weselik to France and signed a contract as player-coach at FC Mulhouse, the newly promoted to Division 1 Franz Weselik was with 24 goals third best scorer of the league season 1934/35 and finished with the Alsatians sixth place in the championship. This placement is still the best result of the association dar. The Vienna remained two more years at Mulhouse, then moved a season as coach to Jonkoping and returned only to wind down his career in 1938 back to Austria. Weselik signed for the fall 1938 season at SC Red Star Vienna and finished after his active career.
