Freddy Meyer

Frederick Meyer IV ( born January 4, 1981 in Sanbornville, New Hampshire ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player and current coach, who during his active career, among other things, for the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Islanders, Phoenix Coyotes and Atlanta Thrashers in the National Hockey League was active.

Career

Freddy Meyer began his career as a hockey player in the team of the U.S. National Team Development Program, for which he was active from 1997 to 2000. He then played three and a half years for the team of Boston University. In March 2003, Meyer was, who was never drafted, taken as a free agent by the Philadelphia Flyers under contract. In the 2003 / 04 season, Meyer made ​​his debut in the National Hockey League for the Flyers, but played up to this game only for their farm team in the American Hockey League, the Philadelphia Phantoms. The following season, the defender was due to the lockout exclusively for the Phantoms on the ice and eventually won the Calder Cup with the team.

In December 2006, the Philadelphia Flyers gave the Americans from the New York Islanders, for whom he scored until the end of season three assists in 35 games. At the start of the following season the rights to the player were initially acquired on 8 October 2007 by the Phoenix Coyotes before the Islanders bringing back this after just one month on November 10. After that, he was active for the Islanders again, so Meyer aground only five times for the Coyotes in the NHL. In August 2010, Meyer signed a contract for one season with the Atlanta Thrashers. After he had come there in a season to only 15 NHL inserts, Meyer decided to leave the NHL and signed a one year contract with MODO Hockey of the Elitserien.

In the summer of 2012 Meyer ended his active career and was subsequently introduced in August 2012 as an assistant coach of the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, where he serves as the right hand of the head coach Mark Morris.

Internationally

For the U.S., Meyer took part in the 2006 World Cup. As a junior player, he had represented his country at the U18 World Youth Championship in 1999 and the U20 World Youth Championship in 2001.
