Frederick Halterman

Frederick Halterman ( born October 22, 1831 in Bremen, † March 22, 1907 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician of German origin. Between 1895 and 1897 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

A native of the Bremen District Vegesack Frederick Halterman attended the public schools of his home. In 1849 he came to Philadelphia, where he worked in the grocery trade until 1891. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1880 and 1883 he was a member of the City Council of Philadelphia.

In the congressional elections of 1894 Halterman was in the second electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrats William McAleer took on 4 March 1895 that he had beaten in the election. Since he lost in 1896 against McAleer, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1897.

Since 1898 until his death on March 22, 1907 Frederick Halterman led a local school district in Philadelphia.
