Frédérick Lemaître

Frédérick Lemaître (* 1800 in Le Havre, France, † January 26, 1876 in Paris) was a French actor.

Life

Lemaître began his career with character roles on the boulevard theaters of Paris's Boulevard du Temple, the former stronghold of the popular theatrical life in Paris (comparable with the later New York as Broadway). The writer Victor Hugo valued him highly and stood up for his appearance at the Comédie - Française, but this was denied him. So he remained a celebrated performer of melodrama instead of upscale tragedy.

In the film Children of Paradise (1945 ) by Marcel Carné Lemaître occurs as a role, played by Pierre Brasseur.

In the theater back managed Lemaître in 1998 in a modern spectacle of the French authors Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, entitled " Frédérick or Boulevard of Crime ".
