Frederick Smith (entomologist)
Frederick Smith (* March 30, 1805, † February 16, 1879 ) was a British entomologist.
Life
The skilled engraver Smith worked after the death of Edward Doubleday (1810-1849) as an assistant in the department of " zoology " of the British Museum in 1849 as a specialist in Hymenoptera. From 1875 until his death he worked as a senior assistant in the same department.
Smith was in the years 1862/63 President of the London " Society of Entomology ", which later became the " Royal Entomological Society of London " emerged.
