Frederik Christian Lund

Frederik Christian Lund ( born February 14, 1826 in Copenhagen, † October 31, 1901 ) was a Danish genre and portrait painter.

Frederik Christian Lund 1845 pupils of the Model School of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. In 1848 he took part as a volunteer in the First Schleswig War and experienced there in 1848, the Battle of construction and in the following year, the Battle of Fredericia. One of his first pictures was more significant in 1852 an episode from the battle of Fredericia, which earned him a first bigger prize. Lund focused primarily on historical motifs over time especially genre motifs and portraits were added. In the years 1859 and 1862 he traveled with the help of a travel scholarship to study in Italy. In 1864 he published several color lithographs Danish folk costumes from the first half of the 19th century. At the World Exhibition in Paris in 1878, he painted a larger watercolor depicting a procession of Danish farmers. His major work in recent years, after the construction of the Viborg Cathedral ceiling paintings executed there, after the completion of which he was in 1876 Knight of the Dannebrogordens. 1877 became a member of the Academy of Art in Copenhagen. In 1896 he was appointed professor there.
