Frederik de Moucheron

Frederik de Moucheron (* 1634 in Emden, † 1686 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch painter.

He was the son of the painter Balthazar de Moucheron and his wife Cornelia van Brouckhoven. His father is part of the Dutch merchant family Moucheron.

Life

Frederik de Moucheron formed with Jan Asselijn a landscape painter, and went at the age of 22 years to Paris. There he worked with Dirck Helmbreker. 1656 he met Adriaen van Eemont in Lyon when he was on his way to Rome. He settled after his return, first settled in Antwerp and Amsterdam in 1659. He has French, Italian and Dutch painted landscapes that are sent arranged, but suffer from severe, cold color. Adriaen van de Velde, Johannes Lingelbach, Nicolaes Pieterszoon Berchem and others have the same decorated with figures.

He died a rich man.

Family

His son was Isaac van Moucheron (1670-1740) a famous engraver and painter.
