Fredrik Claesson

Fredrik Claesson (* November 24, 1992 in Stockholm) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is since 2012 when the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League under contract and play for their farm team in Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.

Career

Fredrik Claesson began his career as a hockey player in the junior department of Haninge HF. From there he moved to the youth department of Hammarby Hockey, for the first team he in the 2007/ 08 season two appearances in the HockeyAllsvenskan, the Swedish second division came. Then the club went bankrupt and the defender joined city rivals Djurgårdens IF on, in which he played only at junior level. In the season 2010/11 he made his debut for the first team Djurgårdens IF in the Elitserien. In his rookie year he scored in 42 games two goals and an assist. In the following season he went with his team in the HockeyAllsvenskan. He himself signed a contract with the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League, who had selected him in the NHL Entry Draft in 2011 in the fifth round as the 126th overall player. In the 2012/13 season he played for their farm team in Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League.

Internationally

For Sweden, Claesson took part in the Under-18 Junior World Cup in 2010 and the U20 World Youth Championship in 2012. At the 2010 U18 World Championships, he won the silver, at the 2012 U20 World Championship gold medal with his team.
