Free International University

The Free International University (FIU ), also Free International University for Creativity and Interdisciplinary Research or Free International University, was one of Joseph Beuys, together with Klaus Staeck ( first chairman), George Meistermann (2nd Chair) and Willi Bongard (Secretary ), established carrier association, think through as " organizational place of research, working and communicating " the questions of a social future, and complement as free university education and the education system and seek a legal equality with other universities wanted.

The FIU was established on 27 April 1973 at the Düsseldorf studio of Joseph Beuys and was recognized as being incorporated association for two years over the death of the artist addition until its dissolution in 1988.

The idea of the Free International University ( FIU) was picked up by various individuals and groups, and continued, including the FIU - published by the author and publisher Rainer Rappmann, initiated by Beuys students FIU in Amsterdam, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg and Munich, and in particular the club for more democracy and the Omnibus for Direct Democracy. In the context of Beuys Master student John Stüttgen is worth mentioning.
