Freedom Chiya

Freedom Chiya ( born July 11, 1979 in Cape Town ) is a South African beach volleyball player.

Career

Chiya began his career in indoor volleyball and played for the national team. In 2004 he completed in his hometown with Alwie Lester Beach for the first time a tournament of the FIVB and was ranked 41 When the same tournament he improved in 2005 on the side of Andile Masinga on the 25th rank. After a year without international appearances he joined in 2007 Gerson Rorich in Fortaleza Open and reached the 33rd place. From 2008 to 2010 he was internationally again inactive.

Since 2011 Chiya forms a duo with Grant Goldschmidt. In September Goldschmidt / Chiya won the beach volleyball tournament of the Pan-African Games in Maputo with a victory in the final against a duo from Angola. In 2012 she played at the Prague Open and the Grand Slam in Berlin and Gstaad, without occupying top positions.
