Freies Werkstatt-Theater

The free workshop Theater Köln eV ( FWT ) is operated in non-profit form. It is sponsored by the City of Cologne and North Rhine -Westphalia.

History

The free workshop theater Cologne was founded in 1977 as part of a nationwide pilot artists and students. Since 1995, it has a newly designed theater house in the south of Cologne, in a listed building. On five floors, the FWT has since been over two venues, two foyers, rehearsal, office and workshop space.

Division Old Theatre

Since 1979, the FWT developed as the first theater in the Federal Republic with its own Old Theatre Ensemble plays that reflect the life and history of the time involved, thematize the entrance to the retirement age and life as an older person today.

Artistic Director

The theater was headed until 2012 by Dieter Scholz, co-founder of the FWT, and Ingrid Berzau. After more than three decades, they were replaced by subsidence Kautter and Gerhard Seidel. Dieter Scholz was awarded the Order of Merit in 1995 and 2007, the Cologne theater honor price. Ingrid Berzau was also awarded the Order of Merit in 2010 for their outstanding commitment as artistic director of the FWT.

Effect
