Freinberg

Freiberg is a municipality in Upper Austria in Schärding district in Innviertel with 1468 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

Freiberg is on the 450 meters on a hill just above the three-river city of Passau.

The area of ​​the municipality is 5.7 kilometers from north to south, from west to east 5.8 km. The total area is 20 km ². 44% of the area is forested, 45.5 % of the area is used for agriculture.

Villages in the municipality are Anzberg, Freiberg ( main town ), Haibach, Hanzing, Hinding, Kritzing, fiefs Neudling, Saming. Katastralgemeinden are Haibach and Hanzing.

History

Since the establishment of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place was Bavarian until 1779 and came to the Peace of Teschen with the Innviertel (then ' Innbaiern ') to Austria. During the Napoleonic Wars shortly Bavarian, it belongs since 1814 finally to Upper Austria.
