Frémécourt

Frémécourt is a commune with 539 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Val- d'Oise of the Ile- de -France region; it belongs to Arrondissement Pontoise and Canton Marines. The inhabitants " Frémécourtois " or " Frémécourtoises " call themselves.

Geography

The community Frémécourt is about 37 kilometers north of Paris. It is located in the Regional Natural Park Vexin français.

Neighboring communities of Frémécourt are Santeuil in the northwest, Marines in the north, Bréançon in the northeast, Cormeilles -en- Vexin in the southeast and Ableiges in the south.

History

Prehistoric and Gallo - Roman finds testify to an early settlement of the place.

The first written mention of the village is handed down for 1227, as the Seigneur of Frémécourt the Abbey Saint -Denis his possessions left in place. The Abbey remained until the French Revolution in possession of the manorial system. 1790 the village was incorporated in Artimont Frémécourt.
