French Angelfish ( Pomacanthus paru )
The French Angelfish ( Pomacanthus paru ) is a species of the genus Pomacanthus from the family of angelfish ( Pomacanthidae ). He is a close relative of the Gray Angelfish ( Pomacanthus arcuatus ).
Appearance
French angelfish are up to 38 centimeters long. Their body color is dark, slate gray, with yellow edges on the scales. The throat region is uniformly dark gray. The muzzle is white. Dorsal and anal fins have a threadlike extension.
Young French angelfish are black with five vertical yellow stripes on the body.
Dissemination
He lives in the tropical and subtropical Atlantic, from the coast of Brazil to Florida, in Bermuda and in the southern Caribbean. He also lives in the eastern Atlantic, on the coast of West Africa. French angelfish have a large territory in which they live of more than 1000 m² in pairs or individually.
Nutrition
French angelfish feed on sponges, sea squirts, bryozoans, hydroids, gorgonians, fish spawning, sea grass and algae.
Aquarium maintenance
French angelfish are occasionally imported for storage in salt water aquariums. Responsible lovers should refrain from buying because you can have animals of this size do not provide adequate habitat.
