Friedberg–Hanau railway

The railway line Friedberg- Hanau is a 32.2 km long double-track and electrified railway mainline in Hesse. It connects the two central cities Friedberg ( Hessen) and Hanau Nidderau.

The circuit is integrated as Route number 633 in the Rhine - Main Transport Association ( RMV), where it is performed as a line 33.

History

The railway line was approved by Act of 11 June 1873, opened by the Prussian state railways in two phases: the first section of Hanau to Heldenbergen wind corners (now Nidderau ) on 1 December 1879, the second of Heldenbergen wind corners to Friedberg Station (Hesse) for freight on 15 September 1881, for passenger traffic on 15 October 1881.

Importance

The importance of the route lies mainly in freight transport. It forms a part of the highway Ruhr -Bayern over the Ruhr -Sieg- route, the route Dill, from casting to Friedberg on the Main- Weser Railway and further from Hanau on the Main-Spessart -Bahn.

In operational faults or works that occasionally occur due to the high utilization of the Main- Weser Railway between Friedberg and Frankfurt, the route is used as a detour route.
