Friedhelm Ortgies

Friedhelm Ortgies Henry ( born May 12, 1950 in Rahden ) is a German politician ( CDU).

Education and work

Ortgies attended secondary school in Rahden ( district of Minden -Lübbecke ) and obtained in 1965 the high school. Following this, he began an agricultural apprenticeship, which he completed in 1968. His master's examination for agriculturalist he graduated in 1974. A year later he took over the family farm, which he, farmed until 2000, when he entered into the state parliament of North Rhine -Westphalia. Party

Ortgies occurred in 1973 in the Junge Union, the youth organization of the CDU, a. In 1974 he became a member of the CDU. Friedhelm Ortgies is since June 2, 2000 Member of the State Parliament of North Rhine -Westphalia, where he is a member of the CDU. He won the state election district of Minden - Luebbecke I, where he was able to unite 43.2% of the votes. In the 2005 parliamentary elections Ortgies could improve his constituency result to 50.3 % and settled again as a directly elected representative in the state legislature. Since August 16, 2005 Ortgies is Speaker of the Environment, Nature Conservation, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of his group.

For the parliamentary constituency Minden- Luebbecke I he was re-elected at the 2010 state election with 42.1 percent of the vote. In the 15th legislative period (2010-2012) Friedhelm Ortgies was chairman of the Committee on Climate Change, Environment, Nature Conservation, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. He was also a regular member of the Committee on Budgetary Control and substitute member of the Committee on Labour, Health, Social Affairs and Integration and the Committee for Building, Housing and Transport.

In the state elections in North Rhine -Westphalia in 2012 Ortgies entered again for the CDU Minden- Luebbecke as a direct candidate, but lost his Direkztmandat. About Place 19 of the state list, he moved into the state legislature.
