Friedrich Traffelet

Friedrich Eduard Traffelet ( born August 27, 1897 in Bern, † December 20, 1954 ) was a Swiss painter and illustrator.

Traffelet studied both in Zurich, and Paris. After studying Traffelet married in 1921 Alice Rondi. From 1939 to 1945, during the Second World War, he served in the Swiss Army. During this time he was also the military painter and his paintings of military life were known in Switzerland. In the style of the 19th century reflected the Switzerland in the Second World War.

Traffelets soldiers representations find mention in Friedrich Dürrenmatt's The Judge and His Hangman.

Later Traffelet also painted portraits and landscapes. In his manners, his images generally more traditional and conservative views reflect.
