Friedrich Wilhelm Seiffer

Friedrich Wilhelm Seiffer ( born April 18, 1872 in Stuttgart, † after 1928 ) was a German psychiatrist and neurologist.

Seiffer attended high school in Ulm. After the Matura examination (1890 ), he studied at the Kaiser -Wilhelm- University of Strasbourg Medicine, where he received his doctorate in 1895 for Dr. med. In the same year he went to Berlin and worked as an assistant at a private mental hospital in Pankow. From 1896 he was assistant to Julius Eduard Hitzig at the psychiatric clinic in Halle, from 1899 then assistant ( later chief physician ) at the Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Berlin in the Royal. Charité Friedrich Jolly, after his death in 1904, under Theodor pulling. After his habilitation in 1901, he has also taught as a lecturer at the Berlin University. In 1906 he became honorary professor there.

The Rydel - Seiffersche tuning fork

Named after Rydel and Seiffer tuning fork for testing vibration sense is still in use today. Proposed was the instrument in a publication of the two authors from the year 1903.
