Fritz Seitz

Life

Friedrich Seitz was baptized on 18 June 1848 in Günther life and grew up here as a son of a farmer. He joined in 1865 as a volunteer in the Gothaische regiment, whereupon he entered the German War of 1866. After the war he studied violin in special bei Karl Wilhelm Uhlrich, former concertmaster of Magdeburg. In 1874, he studied with the Dresden Hofkonzertmeister Professor Johann Christoph Lauterbach. 1869 Seitz was hired as a first violinist in the royal court orchestra at special Hausen and 1873 appointed Kapellmeister.

1876 ​​Friedrich Seitz moved to Magdeburg and was concertmaster of the city theater and concert orchestra. Seitz was the founder of the first music school in Magdeburg. In 1884 he was offered the position as head of the Ducal Court Orchestra in Dessau. In 1888 he was concertmaster of the Bayreuth Festival.

Friedrich Seitz was represented throughout Europe with guest performances. So trips led him not only in many German cities, with the Coburg Opera, he has also appeared in London and Holland. Seitz joined in 1908 to retire. Both the Prince of Schwarzburg- Sondershausen, as well as the Duke of Anhalt, he received the Order of Arts and Sciences for his task rich musical life and his extensive teaching. Of his compositions the little violin school and the student concerts are mentioned. His most famous violin student was the film star Marlene Dietrich.
