Shingle knives are tools for splitting wood processing and are used to produce wood shingles. Wood shingles were usually produced on farms themselves. In certain regions, the professionalization and demand led to the occupation of shingle maker.

Basics

Shingle knives are available in different sizes. These range from about 10 cm to about 30 cm blade length. Also varies the length of the handle, of 10 cm to about 60 cm. The length of the handle is on the one hand from region to region, but also differs by whether the shingle-maker is standing or sitting.

In addition to the L-shaped shingle knife, there is the shingle riving knife and the shingle plaster knife, both of which are also produced in mechanized form.
